“East Of Eden” 1971
Sleeve notes:
Textured gatefold sleeve, designed and photographed by Hipgnosis – not one of their best efforts though, very bland and uninspiring (similar in style to the equally bland ‘Oakdown Farm’ on Vertigo Swirl, also by Hipgnosis). Date code 7107 (July 1971) and printer’s credit on inner gatefold.
“Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.”
Label notes:
Uk 1st pressing information must include the following –
“THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD” around rim of label
EMI box logo on label
“MADE IN GT. BRITAIN” at bottom of label
Note some labels exist with non-EMI on A side and EMI logo on B side. This album was released just after the transition to the new label (with boxed EMI logo) and therefore the printer was using up old stocks of labels as well as new ones.
Matrix notes:
UK 1st pressing (with label as above)
S H V L 7 9 2 A – 4 (P at 3 o’clock in deadwax, 1 at 9 o’clock)
S H V L 7 9 2 B – 4 (A at 3 o’clock in deadwax, 1 at 9 o’clock)
We have this LP with side 1 label with NO EMI LOGO
