Grab yourself a super rare version of Cressida’s 1st LP on Vertigo, their self-titled debut was reissued on the iconic swirl label but is even rarer than the initial pressing…you won’t get many chances to see this one. The 1st pressing features the ‘A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT’ on the label, but this second issue does not have this wording, but does still have the same 1Y1/2Y1 stamped matrix as the first pressing. I’ve not seen another one like this…

Complete with original gatefold sleeve and swirl inner, this super rare 2nd pressing is identical to the more common 1st pressing but does not have ‘A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT’ on the label and is stupidly hard to find! Great piece by Christopher Budd in the latest ‘Shindig!’ magazine (Issue 68) about the Juicy Lucy/Zelda Plum photoshoot and resulting ‘controversial’ sleeve artwork. The whole magazine is an excellent read for rare record collectors and is highly recommended.

Here’s a large double page spread poster that advertised 6 dates in November 1971, to tour the “Master Of Reality” album in the UK. Unfortunately, Bill Ward was suffering from “physical and mental exhaustion following the band’s recent US tour”, and Tony Iommi was “confined to bed with ‘flu, under doctors’ orders”.
All the dates (including an earlier one on Tuesday 16th November at Southampton Guildhall) were cancelled and rearranged (with additional ones) for January and February 1972.

Propping up the table with just 1 view each (mustn’t have that much in the way of record collections!) are the Cayman Islands, Aland Islands, Aruba, Nigeria, Panama, Tanzania, Qatar, Nepal, El Salvador and Guadeloupe.

Led Zeppelin’s albums are what you seem to want to know the most about with Led Zeppelin’s 2nd album (and all it’s variations no doubt!) leading the way – viewed over 3,100 times!

Led Zeppelin dominates once again! With a massive 5,277 views, the post on the multiple label variants for Led Zeppelin’s untitled 4th album easily tops the chart! The next nearest competitor is Led Zeppelin (again) and all the 6 sleeve variants for “In Through The Out Door”.
So it seems that rare record collectors just can’t get enough of their Led Zeppelin! …just when you thought there couldn’t be any more label variations, or perhaps you thought your Vertigo swirl collection was complete…a new label variant has been spotted. This time it’s (ex-Deep Purple) Nick Simper’s band, Warhorse, and their second album on Vertigo, “Red Sea”.
If you look closely you can see that the track listing details differ in their layout, one version has more lines of type (with some track timings running onto a new line) whilst the second version has tidied this up and managed to get things onto the same line as the song title.
It is my assumption that the version on the left (with more line breaks on the track listing) would be the 1st issue and the tidied up version (on the right) would be a second issue. I can’t see that the ‘clumsier’ typesetting of the left hand version would have been a reissue or 2nd pressing…

Notice how the Tudor Lodge single has a date stamp, whilst the other demos have no information about intended release dates (unlike Harvest demos for example, which usually announce the release date on the labels).
