If you’re fascinated about collecting rare records, you’ve hopefully been visiting Rare Record Collector.net since it was founded back in 2013. In a frustrating lack of communication by the domain name registrant, the old domain of .net was not renewed and was sold (behind my back, in effect) just a few weeks ago. If any of you tried to log on you’d have seen the site was not visible. And so we have a new domain name of rarerecordscollector.com. I appreciate it will take a while for this to be as visible as the old site (sigh), but no other option was available.
My latest book is on B&C Records, a label very closely affiliated with Charisma Pink Scroll. They shared manufacturing, marketing, and even the same catalogue numbering system. B&C was short-lived and suffered the fate of financial difficulties, some would say ‘irregularities’ – read Keith Christmas’s interview for details on that!
As well as the day job, and along with all the books on various labels and artists, I’ve just completed a discography and international and UK rarities features for Record Collector magazine – a special edition devoted to Black Sabbath. Coming soon!
There will also be a full page advert for my books (to date) as shown above. To find these on Amazon, click the link below:
With over 50 extra pages on the previous edition, The Charisma Pink Scroll UK Discography is packed full of information like never before. Featuring as many contemporary advertisements, reviews and gig announcements as could be crammed in, the book also now features as many UK reissues known to exist on Pink Mad Hatter (large and small) and also the later Blue Mad Hatter variants. The most comprehensive reference book you’ll need on Charisma Pink Scroll!
As with all reference books, over time, new information is discovered that makes a printed book become gradually more and more obsolete. Vertigo Swirl Part One was originally published back in 2016 and thanks to the amazing people who regularly visit this site, more variations on labels have emerged. The book has also been redesigned with a new layout to allow more contemporary advertisements, reviews and news articles on each of the bands/albums/singles. A new section on all the Vertigo singles, including the ‘missing numbers’ (mostly non-UK releases) has also been included for the very first time – not available anywhere else!
Thanks to everyone who’s bought and continues to buy the books, they’re still the most comprehensive and accurate sources for record collectors on these sought after labels and bands. More books on the way, B&C Records is in progress and will be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
Happy New Year to you all, hope 2021 is better than 2020 was!
It’s been a busy few months at Rare Record Collector. I finally finished Harvest Vol.2, two years in the writing, compiling, designing, photographing and publishing. And then Swan Song, which was started and finished in just three months. Thanks to lockdown, at least I managed to keep busy doing something!
So, everything you need to know about UK first pressing vinyl on Harvest and Swan Song, complete with anecdotes, interviews, press ads and reviews on the albums from contemporary sources where available plus all the crucial photos on differentiating reissues from the more valuable first pressings.
Click the links below to see some preview pages and you’ll find a link on each book’s page to Amazon.
I am delighted to announce that my latest book, “The Complete Harvest UK Vinyl Discography: VOL.2” is now at final proof stage. Here’s some teaser pages to whet your appetite. It is of course the follow up to VOL.1 which was published in 2018 and is available from Amazon. VOL.2 will also be available on Amazon (hopefully in the next few days…watch this space).
