Harvest
Amazon have pulled their finger out and my latest book on Harvest UK Vinyl Discography is now live, you can order it here:
Don’t forget, it’s in full colour throughout (as you can see from the pictures above), and includes tons of great background info on the bands and the recordings as well as vital 1st pressing information – and it’s 230+ pages too!
Just waiting on Amazon to pull their finger out and list the paperback version of my latest book, but for those who can’t wait (or who’d rather have the digital version), the PDF format (contains all the exact same content as the print version) is available to download here:
My latest book on rare and collectable UK vinyl is complete! This one has been a long time in the making. Due to there being around 88 UK releases on the collectable “Gramophone Co. Ltd” label style, it has been necessary to publish this label’s discography in two volumes – otherwise the book would have been huge (!) and massively expensive too! (Don’t forget, all my books are printed in FULL COLOUR throughout, these are not simple black and white ‘listings’ type books).
As with my previous books, I’ve gone into extensive detail on the stories behind each album and band and included all known UK 1st pressing and reissue variants (where possible) and included contemporary news clippings, articles and reviews too – so you get to read what the opinions were of reviewers when the album and single was released.
Volume 1 includes the first 44 albums and related singles. Volume 2 to follow later in 2018.
I’ll be posting links to the online retailers very shortly…so watch this space!

Here’s a rather rare chance to acquire an UNPLAYED, STILL SEALED copy of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”. But then the dilemma is…do you open it and play it and hear an original pressing in BRAND NEW condition…(but destroy a lot of its value in the process!) or do you keep it in its unplayed, sealed condition and speculate on what must be an accumulating asset…
Here’s a few example spreads of the new Deep Purple book, which includes ever UK 7″ and LP release between 1968 and 1982 on the Parlophone, Harvest and Purple Records labels.
The book is available to purchase from Amazon – click here to order your copy.
Contains all UK albums and 7″ vinyl by Deep Purple from 1968 until 1982 on the Parlophone, Harvest and Purple Records labels. Essential reading for Deep Purple collectors!
CMU vs. Maldoon
Just spotted that CMU’s “Open Spaces” looked a little familiar…you know that nagging feeling you’ve seen it before somewhere…? It bears a striking similarity to Maldoon’s second album on Purple Records, TPS3502.
Only thing is…CMU’s album was released on the Transatlantic label back in 1971…some 2 years before Maldoon’s 1973 album. Maldoon’s cover was a painting by Eric Slack. Not sure who did CMU’s cover…
And in case you’re wondering whatever happened to Curtiss/Maldoon, Madonna ‘reworked’ their “Sepheryn” track for her “Ray Of Light” song back in 1998. So much so, that Dave Curtiss and Clive Maldoon were actually given (quite rightly) a songwriting credit for the track. Maldoon died in 1978 from overdosing on prescription medicines.
Spontaneous Combustion vs. World Party
Now they are both in the style of Roy Lichtenstein, but Spontaneous Combustion’s album was released in 1972, with World Party’s “Bang” album coming out in 1993.
Home vs. Deep Purple
There’s a similar theme with these two sleeve designs, too. Both albums feature the band members’ faces within the liquid or reflection of either a glass beaker full of chemicals or a wine goblet. Home’s “The Alchemist” from 1973 predates Deep Purple’s “Come Taste The Band” by 3 years. It’s also a much better design with better photography and a less-clumsy execution of the band members mugshots in my opinion.
Let me know if you find any more similarities on the site…!
