The typeface used for the album title is ‘University Roman’ and what’s interesting about it is that the designer has either accidentally or deliberately inverted the letter ‘E’…the correct version appears below:
as with most graphic design of this period (late 1960s and 1970s), letraset-style lettering was used to create titles and logos, so the designer either made a mistake when rubbing down the lettering to create the title or just simply preferred the ‘E’ upside down…! Who knows?!
Hi from the USA! Wow, GREAT JOB with the Rare Record Collector site, which I just stumbled upon, and which is happily distracting me from what I’m supposed to be working on. Please note, the very first press of “Barrett” has a laminated flipback sleeve. The textured flipback appeared in either late 1971 or early 1972.
