Sharp-eyed Gary Taylor has spotted another label variation for Uriah Heep’s debut on Vertigo Swirl – 1970’s “Very ‘Eavy Very ‘Umble”. Here’s Gary’s picture:
This label appears to be nearly identical to the ‘2nd’ pressing but has abbreviated the producer’s credit just above the ‘VERTIGO’ wording. The earlier versions spell out the credit in full, thus: “Produced by Gerry Bron for Hit Record Productions Limited”.
Here are the other 3 labels for comparison:
I would put Gary’s version as 3rd pressing, and the smaller swirl and VERTIGO above the spindle as a 4th pressing.
Please note that this was one of a few Vertigo releases to be subsequently reissued on the Bronze label, rather than the Vertigo spaceship label. So that would make the Bronze reissue a 5th pressing.
There are new sections for singles on pink Island, CBS orange, B&C Records, Charisma pink scroll and Mooncrest as well as a rare addition on Vertigo. Click the labels to go to each singles section featuring Traffic, Titanic, Atomic Rooster, Nazareth, Rare Bird and Manfred Mann.
More singles to be added to each section as they are acquired. Keep coming back for updates.
A new comprehensive section on Vertigo swirl singles has now been added as a sub-section of Vertigo. It includes all the known releases (some images will be added once the single has been sourced and scanned) and also details the catalogue numbers that were unissued (in the UK).
Thanks to David from Co. Durham, we now have another label variation (of the second pressing large swirl label) to add to the existing known ones. This new one features slightly different positioning of the text, most notably the track listing for side 2 which features a different alignment for track 3…further to the left than the other labels…

Sharp-eyed Pavel from Russia has pointed out there is an alternative large swirl label for Uriah Heep’s “Very ‘eavy…Very ‘umble”. So here are the three swirl labels for comparison:
Note that the songwriting and publishing credits are on both the 2nd and 3rd label versions, so we must therefore conclude that the label without these credits is the very first issue.
Thanks to sharp-eyed Steve Philp, he’s spotted that his Vertigo Swirl 2nd issue version of Rod Stewart’s “Gasoline Alley” has a label error, incorrectly listing the A side tracks in the wrong order: 1,2,4,3

This update featuring Sensational Alex Harvey Band; John Dummer; Aphrodite’s Child; a rare Peruvian sampler; Thomas F. Browne; Lighthouse (both albums); Black Sabbath’s Argentinian pressing of ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’ on swirl; Kraftwerk’s double album; Rod Stewart’s Gasoline Alley (3 versions on swirl) and Jim Croce’s albums pretty much completes the Vertigo Swirl section (although there are some minor modifications to some pages here and there).
